102. Head of School Update: Citywide COVID testing
|Dear Faculty and Staff,
Much like the citywide testing that happened in July, the HCMC People’s Committee Directive #2789 (August 20, 2021) has instructed the districts to do mass COVID testing. We can expect that any households in any district or ward may be required to have a Rapid COVID test.
The testing has already begun in District 7, and your building management or realtor will provide you details of where and when you will be tested. Some buildings will require only one person from each household. Some buildings are not making the testing mandatory. Please cooperate with your building instructions.
People working in pharmacies, supermarkets, garbage collection, gas stations, checkpoints, and food delivery are required to undergo weekly COVID testing.
What you can expect if you are notified that you will be tested:
- You may be asked to go to your lobby for testing or another nearby location. You may be given a day’s notice or a few minutes notice. Please wear your mask (double mask or face shield) and keep your distance from other residents.
- The Health Authority testing team will be wearing full protection equipment (suits, face shields, gloves).
- You will be asked to complete a declaration (online or by paper).
- The test will be a nasal swab. There is no need to wait for the result. Return to your apartment.
- The Rapid tests take about 30 minutes to get results. You will only be notified if you are positive. A positive result F0 does not mean you will be taken to quarantine. The current practice is for F0 who are asymptomatic to remain at home in quarantine.
I know it is a difficult time for us all and that this lockdown is not without its challenges. It is important, however, that we continue to do our part by following all government directives.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact one of us if you have any questions or concerns.
All good wishes,
Catriona
