 I hope everyone was able to unplug a bit this weekend!

Shout-Outs are in order for Liz Hendrickson for organizing an awesome unit-related field trip to Family Medical for the KG students and to Jacob for running our first Emotional Coaching parent workshop. More shouts-out go to the Grade 3 team for so graciously breaking down their auditorium set-up to accommodate HS students who needed the space this weekend.  More appreciation goes to Binh, Trang, Phuong and Uyen for giving up their personal planning time to help cover an art class and to Lucinda for finding a way to get admin, parents, teachers, and outside consultants all in one room at the same time to address a student concern. 

Parent-teacher conferences are around the bend. Please take 2 minutes to review this doc for an overview of how they are done here at SSIS. The doc includes the location on our server where you can find notes on each child’s previous conference history.  You are asked to add brief anecdotal notes to each child’s record as well. Next week, we will send out a simple form to track how many parents participate in student conferences. If you are new to SSIS or new to conferences and need help, please check with a teammate for support and/or send me an email.

Last Friday, it rained during lunch recess and it was clear that we, including me, were unclear on the rainy day procedures.  I’ll be gathering all the information we have on these procedures and will share Monday.

Last week I was able to visit 21 of our 26 homeroom classrooms. It was terrific to see you and your students in action.  Thank you also for making time for me to introduce myself in my new role. I’ll aim to visit the rest of you this week!
