September 18th – 22nd

In my 22 years of education, I’ve heard rumors of faraway schools that have dedicated professional development (PD) for an entire week. It always seemed like an urban legend, and the idea of a whole week devoted to sharpening our teaching skills felt like a distant dream. It turns out those schools do exist, and our school will now be among them. The upcoming week is set to be a transformative period of professional development, with a strong focus on enhancing our literacy instruction. We’re fortunate to have Hannah Fernweh from Erin Kent Consulting joining us for the entire week, bringing the latest research, cutting-edge strategies, and practical tips to empower us. The impact we can make as a team, armed with a deeper understanding of literacy instruction, is immense. Let’s seize this opportunity, creating a positive ripple effect that extends far beyond our classrooms.

Throughout the week, we’ll actively participate in interactive workshops, engage in collaborative discussions, and draw insights from real-world examples to enhance our teaching repertoire. This is our chance to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and discover new possibilities for sparking a love for reading and writing in our students. Our commitment to excellence in literacy instruction will shape the future of our students and leave a lasting impact on their lives. Get ready to embark on this journey of professional growth, collaboration, and inspiration. Believe in the power of professional development because, this week, it’s happening right here, right now.

To make the most of this incredible opportunity, I encourage you to embrace vulnerability and don’t hesitate to ask questions. Our flexibility in adjusting times and plans is greatly appreciated, as it has enabled this week to become a reality. Thank you all for coming together as a division. Let’s make this week an unforgettable experience.

Adjusted schedule for this week

Please remember that our schedule is adjusted this week. The biggest impact will be Wed. – Fri. If any hiccups occur that were unforeseen, please get ahold of Minh and we will coordinate support.

Playground committee

Thank you to those of you who have reached out. I am closing the playground committee on Wed. Please let me know if you are interested.

Athletics Announcements

Welcome Mr. Nguyen

Mr. Nguyen is our dedicated ES IT support person. Mr. Nguyen will be stationed in the Spark Lab for the majority of the day, being present to support staff, faculty and students with day to day issues that arise from device or classroom device issues.

Mr. Nguyen will be able to support folks face-to-face as well as through tickets (so please remember to use the helpdesk ticket system when required). Mr. Nguyen will be sure to log tickets on behalf of students and staff if they come to see him in the office – or when he is walking around the division checking in on classrooms day to day.

Please do not call Mr. Nguyen on his personal cell phone moving forward. It is important that ICT knows the needs of the ES and this is best done through the helpdesk ticket system.
