Safety, and Security, First

Dear Faculty –

This week we’ve been testing the turnstiles and printing new cards for students, parents, and caregivers. We have also replaced some cards with weak signals and updated the database several times. Please help spread the message that, as of Monday, all entrances will be locked down and entrance to campus will be only through the turnstiles.

While we happily live in a very safe environment here in Vietnam, we need to be proactive about controlling access to campus. This means the ability to know, at any given moment, who is on campus.

The system only works with 100% compliance.

So as of Monday, entrance to campus will only be through the turnstile gates. No one, student or faculty member, will be allowed in or out of the back gate, at any time. The only exception will be bus riders. Their arrivals and departures are still handled manually by the bus monitors until such time as we can put an electronic system in place.Any deliveries to campus (e.g. food) will require that the person ordering the food come to the gate to meet the delivery person. Security will not call you, nor will they pay for food and hold it for you.

If you forget your card, you will follow the same procedures as a parent, caregiver, or driver. You will have to present an ID at the gate for a visitor’s pass to campus and return the same at the end of the day.

I know that it is sometimes far more convenience, before, during, and after school, to use the back gate. However, for the safety and security of us all, please be aware that, as of Monday, 17 August 2015, the back gate to school is closed. SSIS Security has been instructed that no student, teacher, parent, or staff member is allowed to enter or exit through that gate at any time.

On a similar note, all faculty are to wear their ID during the day in a visible manner. This is the only way for all our students to recognize you as an official member of staff. If you wish to order food or drink to be be delivered to campus, you will need to meet the delivery person at the turnstiles upon their arrival. Security will not pass them through the gates, nor will security be responsible for making payment and holding deliveries.
