Search underway for an Asst. High School Principal
|Dear Faculty –
The Board of SSIS has given its approval for the recruitment an assistant principal in the high school. We will begin our search now in the hopes of identifying an outstanding individual to begin serving next year.
The proposal to appoint an assistant principal came from Jacob Hendrickson, our high school principal. In order to evaluate the request, we first gathered data from fifty-two different international schools around the world. What we learned was that schools of our size have a typical supervision ratio of about 1:200 for divisional administrators (principals and assistant principals) to students, and approximately 1:22 for divisional administrators to faculty. The recent student growth in the high school, and the number of full-time faculty, meant that there was clear evidence of the need to provide additional support for Jacob’s work in the high school.
A formal request for the position was submitted to the board and has, as of this week, been approved for the 2016-2017 school year. We’ll share more information with you as our search gets underway.
Sincerely yours,
Mark Sylte, Head of School
