Dear SSIS High School Families,
On Saturday, 27 February 2016, there will be a candlelight vigil held on campus from 6:30-7:30 pm. Members of the SSIS community who wish to attend to mark and celebrate the life of Mizuki Orime are welcome. Please note the event is closed to non-SSIS community members. We ask that you come dressed smart casual.
You do not need to bring candles to the vigil as these will be provided. We will start the event outside of the school’s auditorium promptly at 6:30 pm
Mizuki was a long-time and active member of the Mai Am Mai Tam club. This orphanage caters to children, ranging in age from infant to 18, who are HIV positive or have AIDS. In honor of Mizuki and his work with Mai Am Mai Tam, donations will be accepted during the ceremony to be used to support these students’ local school fees. Please understand that this is voluntary. If you wish to donate, please put your donation in an envelope in a with a note or card with your name on it (if you wish) so we can acknowledge you. When the time comes, this gesture will be shared with the Orime family

As we have said before, there is no right or wrong way to feel or even grieve. If this is the right event for you, we hope you will join us on Saturday. If you feel it best to reflect in your own way and in your own time, we are always here to support you. While these have been difficult days for our community, they have shown us the spirit of friendship and caring that binds us together and makes us so proud of our students, teachers, and families.
