Announcing new Assistant Athletic Director for 2020-2021 School Year

Dear faculty and staff,

As we indicated some time ago, after nearly 8 years of faithful service to SSIS, Athletic Director Shelley Wowchuk has decided to explore new leadership opportunities for the next school year and will be leaving us next summer. We are very grateful for the opportunities her efforts have provided for our community and our students. During her time with us, Shelley has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to developing the school’s programs in athletics and activities.  Her accomplishments have significantly included increasing the number of activities on offer, and I also credit her with the successful bid for SSIS to be the first and only school in Vietnam accepted into the SEASAC league, a significant achievement.

Providing our children with opportunities to reach higher and to realize their full potential is at the core of everything we do, and we are always looking at how we can do it better. We decided that one Athletics-Activities Director, supported by an Assistant Athletic Director, will better suit our growing focus on overall wellness while ensuring that we continue providing your children with experiences of the highest quality.

As of August 2020, Jon Wrzesinski, our current Activities Director, will assume the role of combined Athletics-Activities Director. He will be supported by long-time SSIS PE Teacher and Multisport Coach, Chris Sylvester, who will become the new Assistant Athletic Director. Chris has spent more than 5 years in our SSIS community. He has always shown great passion for supporting students in building knowledge, competence, and confidence through sport and physical activity.

We are confident that our programs and our focus on promoting health, wellness, and high-quality experiences for our entire SSIS community will gain many benefits from the expertise and energy that Jon and Chris bring to our community.
