69. Coronavirus Update: Being Prepared
|As we watch the rapidly evolving situation in northern Vietnam due to the recently detected COVID-19 cases, it behooves us to ensure that we prepare ourselves for any eventuality and be extra vigilant.
Please note that there is no indication that we will be required to transition to Virtual School at this time. However, during the coming weeks, we should anticipate dealing with a certain amount of uncertainty and that the directive to close the school can come at a moment’s notice, like last year. And, if we are required to move to Virtual School, there will be one full school day to transition effectively.
In addition, in light of the rapid rate at which circumstances can change, I encourage you to leave school each day with the materials you would need to teach from home the following day, should we suddenly find ourselves prohibited from being on campus.
Also, please be advised (as noted in Lisa’s email) that beginning tomorrow, Friday, January 29, masks are mandatory at all times on campus, both in and outside of classrooms, including PE classes and recess. The mandatory mask usage applies to everyone on campus: faculty, staff, and students (except for students in EC and KG). You may only remove your mask to eat and drink.
We will remain in contact with International SOS, the Vietnamese government, and other heads of school in Ho Chi Minh City and inform you of any updates as we have them.
Tomorrow, after a COVID status update, our PD work with Cathy Berger Kaye will continue as planned. I look forward to seeing you all then. In the meantime, please remember that our community’s health and safety are of the highest priority, and take good care of yourselves.
All good wishes,
Catriona
