74. Coronavirus Update: Spring Break Travel Information
|Dear Faculty and Staff,
Today, there have been news reports of new positive cases of COVID-19 in the HCMC community.
Personally, I have been grappling with the decision about whether I travel to Danang or not, all day. And, I have decided to cancel my travels. My responsibility as the Head of School to you and our community is just too great to take any chances at all.
Several of you have asked if you will be required to take a COVID test before returning to work on April 5. At this point, we are not able to answer that. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed.
Although I fully expect that Vietnam will efficiently manage these new cases, we know that anyone who has traveled to a location or airport where an outbreak develops may be required to do a COVID test or even home quarantine.
At this time the Ministry of Health recommends that all passengers on flight VJ458, from Phu Quoc airport to Noi Bai airport (Hanoi) on March 22, 2021 report to the health authorities for testing and quarantine. Also, a person who later tested positive was at the FV Hospital in District 7 on Wednesday March 24 from 1:00 – 6:00 pm. If you were at FV during this time, then please contact Lisa or the local health authority.
This Spring Break, I ask that you monitor the news and the International SOS Assistance App, closely, to determine how and if you may have to modify your plans.
Please remember to wear your mask, wash your hands frequently, stay away from large crowds, and keep your distance.
Should you make any changes to your travels, don’t forget to update us through the SSIS Travel Questionnaire.
Whatever you decide to do for Spring Break, I wish you an enjoyable and relaxing time. You sure have earned it!
All good wishes,
Catriona
