81. Coronavirus Update – Incoming flights temporarily closed, more lockdowns

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Temporary Suspension of Flights into HCMC

This evening, the Ministry of Traffic issued Directive 2241 CHK-VTHK announcing the temporary suspension of flights to Tan Son International Airport from May 27 to the end of  June 4.

Outgoing flights are not included in this temporary suspension. That is all we know on this matter at this time, but we will monitor development related to flights very carefully.

Important Update on Lockdowns

It appears that our refresher of the restrictions on lockdowns was warranted, as another member of the faculty is in a locked down apartment building this evening in D2.

As the government seeks to quickly contain the COVID outbreaks in HCMC, please remember that any apartment lockdowns are to this end. Also, remember that if your apartment is in lockdown, you must go home as the authorities will want to monitor your health. It is much easier and faster to submit to the instructions and follow directions immediately.

SSIS and International SOS will always support you when you are in lockdown, so please call Lisa, WaiMun, or me immediately if you are locked down. Please review the packing lists for home quarantine/ lockdown.

We thought it important to share these two pieces of information right away. We will keep you informed as we receive further information on these or any other related matters.
