Tips for Working from Home
|Dr. Moran provided us with her usual wisdom and guidance to help us think about our wellness now that we are working from home. We need to stop and acknowledge that we are in a new phase of virtual school. This means stepping back and reevaluating what we need to put in place as we work from home. Dr. Moran points out that each of us needs a buddy who we check in with on a daily basis. She notes that while we are living with social distancing this does not mean that we are disconnecting. In fact, we need to be even more connected with our friends, co-workers and family now that we don’t have our normal days at school.
Psychology Today has a very helpful article about setting up your home office that also involves putting into place routines to support your wellness. I would add to the list what you have been sharing with your students- build in wellness breaks throughout the day. Set up a timer for every 25 minutes or so to get you up and away from your device. Get outdoors periodically to enjoy the sun and the incredibly beautiful flowers that are blossoming all around us (beauty breaks).
For more home/office wellness activities, try some of the workouts that Alison and Chris put together in their video playlist.
Another helpful resource is a listing of meditations, stretches, relaxation stories, soothing music and more from the folks at the Calm meditation app. Look browse the choices to then schedule in the activities that work well for you.
For more information on setting up your workspace, please take a look at the Workspace Wellness slideshow that was shared with you earlier in the year.
