Ikigai – All About PERMAH

Positive Psychology posted the article “The Philosophy of Ikigai: 3 Examples About Finding Purpose“. The author starts the article with “Ikigai (ee-key-guy) is a Japanese concept that combines the terms iki, meaning “alive” or “life,” and gai, meaning “benefit” or “worth.” When combined, these terms mean that which gives your life worth, meaning, or purpose.”

He goes on to make the following Ikigai connections which tie into all of the PERMAH pillars:

  • Improved mental and physical well-being through positive emotions
  • Experiencing a state of flow when engaging and accomplishing
  • Experiencing meaning by contributing to the well-being of others

The article is definitely worth a read!
