Use of the new Auditorium
|Dear Faculty –
As we are a couple of weeks into the new school year, and with two more curriculum nights and many assemblies to go, I just need to reiterate was mentioned at the first faculty meeting in early August.
We’ve gone to a great deal of expense in the renovation of the auditorium space. The lighting, acoustics, projection and ambiance are all amazing. Great spaces help to elevate audiences. Parent meetings feel distinctly different this year. The aim is both to preserve the space and to retain the feel intended by the designers.
The expectations for the auditorium space is that nothing is to be taped, tacked or hung on the walls. This includes both the red-brown imported acoustical paneling and the grey, cloth covered sheets along the walls and doors. The front stage also should not be used in this way. If you need something hung or displayed, your options are:
1. Wires from the ceiling (this system is coming and will be in place before the art shows).
2. The moveable grey/black panels we use for art displays and for some PD days.
3. Moveable whiteboards which can be requested ahead of time.
4. Display boxes we use for shows and event evenings.
This holds true, too, for the entrance space for the Elementary and Middle School. Nothing should be taped or hung not the wooden slats or glass doors.
Other venues (the gyms, the Dragons Den, the MPR) are more casual.
Thank you for your cooperation.
