July 30-August 3

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Welcome back!  I hope everyone has had a restful and relaxing summer vacation!  I am looking forward to catching up and diving into an exciting new school year!

We have a busy week planned– please see our Inservice Schedule for details.  Also, please look at this year’s Duty Roster.   Please note the overlap in the Atrium duty area.  This is just to ensure there is supervision during the transition.  The Atrium supervisors will “hold down the fort” until the bell is passed.

Shelly (our Athletic/ASA Director) will be sending out information on both ASA’s and Athletics this week.  As our elementary school continues to innovate its formal curriculum, there is a need to revise the semi-formal learning opportunities offered to our students.  This year, we are hoping to take small steps to improve our ASA program. In the short-term, we are also looking at more effectively tapping into our collective capacity in order to better utilize the talents and skills-sets that both the teachers and teaching assistants can offer the ES ASA program.  This year we would like to offer some long-term and consistent programs (with the possibility of co-staffing and seasonal overlap) Some programs we would like to offer are: Destination Imagination, Robotics, Scouts, and Student Leadership. We would also like someone to help supervise with a HS student initiated Poetry ASA.    We would also like for teachers to consider supporting our ES athletic program. Giving our students the opportunity to participate on teams allows them to explore a variety of interests and develop skills before they enter MS. Also, so many of our core values can be instilled on an athletic fields or courts—demonstrating that the heart of our program extends beyond our classroom walls.

Please let me know if you have any questions– or if you need anything this week!

Cheers,

Donna
