It’s the last week of a “complicated” year! Let’s enjoy our final Monday, Tuesady, Wednesday, Thursday, and half day Friday as an ES team!

Congratulations to the whole Grade 4 Team for a powerful learning experience and celebration of their “Thinking Outside the Box” unit. There is some magnificent art in our hallways and the Grade 5 Capstone Exhibition was remarkable.PJ Days are being enjoyed and on Monday we have end of year assemblies to celebrate. The Grade 5 Promotion Ceremony will take place in the afternoon of Thursday, June 9th.

Check Out Tasks:

The end of the year brings close out tasks. Please see the email from David P regarding tech related close out tasks. This email includes information about iPad carts (last day of use is June 7); tech checked out to teachers like laptop, remotes, iPads (returning and/or keeping for the summer, June 10); and backing up your Google My Drive. You will also receive a check out list for other departments like HR, the business office, and the division itself. This will come from Thuy. Please be sure to ask for assistance at any point along the way.

Recess Times Reminder: Please remember that 1:20 – 1:40 is recess for Grades 4 and 5 only. Other grade levels should not be at recess at that time. Thanks!

Students Leaving Campus during the School Day Reminder: If a parent contacts us to allow their child to leave at some time throughout the school day, please remember that they need to come to the ES Office to receive a pass to clear security. Thanks for ensuring the safety of our students.

Student Recess and Lunch Guidelines

If you are absent from your duty (including those of you at home), it is your responsibility to ensure there is duty coverage for your assigned duty. If you cannot do this, please let Minh or I know.

Bright Spots: Please take a moment to read the “bright spots” that were shared last week on the right side widget! Let’s continue to focus on, and celebrate, the good things.

When we do this we can share a joyful educator moment or share a shout out to a staff member who has brightened our day. You can find the form here!

The Event Protocols Team would like to share an update to the protocols surrounding EVENTS, MEETINGS and AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. Effective April 18, 2022:

Masks are mandatory everywhere.
Meetings and events must follow maximum capacity in rooms Max occupancy-4/4/22
All visitors and parents must be fully vaccinated, strictly 5K, mask mandatory, temp check, health declaration
All pre-approved events must end by 8:00pm
All after school activities must end by 6:00pm
Nurses will be on campus for Sporting events but not for other After School Activities.
No food at events or meetings or After School Activities.

EVENTS

Fully vaccinated parents are allowed on campus for pre-approved events. These events must have PRIOR APPROVAL from the Event Protocols Team.
PROCESS FOR SEEKING APPROVAL FOR AN EVENT:
- Step 1 : Send an email with your plan to Chris Beanes at least 2 weeks before the event. Provide as much detail as possible (location, date, time, number of people, activities, etc)
- Step 2 : Meet with Lisa Chute to discuss support from Health Office, 5K implementation, other details
- Step 3 : Wait for the Event Protocols Team to APPROVE or NOT APPROVE your event. We will get back to you as soon as possible with a decision.

MEETINGS

Fully vaccinated parents are allowed on campus for ESSENTIAL meetings as defined below. No approval is required. Please enter the parent meeting and parent name on the Google Calendar and invite Chris Beanes. This must be done 48 hours ahead of time.

Essential Parent visits includes:

Parents of students with academic struggles (failing courses
Parents of students with mental health struggles (suicidal, eating disorders)
Parents (and students) of new admissions/ future admissions (tours, ID, payment, testing)
Parents for Parent Teacher Conferences/ Student Led conferences/ Learning Journeys
Fully vaccinated visitors are allowed on campus for ESSENTIAL purposes as defined below. No approval is required. Please enter the visitor meeting and visitor name on the Google Calendar and invite Chris Beanes. This must be done 48 hours ahead of time..

Essential Visitors includes:

Facility maintenance people (AC repair, coffee machine vendor) after 4pm and on weekends.
Construction vendors (inspectors, workers) after 4pm and on weekends.
Business vendors (for school operations)
Contract negotiations (for school operations)
Interviewees
Specialists for student academic support (speech therapy, occupational therapist)
Specialists for student mental health support
Admissions Tours
