March 13th – March 17th
We hope you all had a chance to recharge and take care of you over this mini spring break. School years always ebb and flow. This time of year a break of any length comes at jus the right time. Kids and adults, alike are ready for a recharge before the big push to the end. The rest of the school year is often the most fun. Our little in EC, KG, and 1 kiddos really begin put all of their learning together. They begin putting all the different parts of their reading and writing skills together. Their number sense begins solidify. Their sense of wonder continues to evolve to spaces outside of their “neighborhood.” They are not afraid to try in all areas, but especially art, music and PE. Grades 2 and 3 begin to read to learn rather learn to read. They will make connections between whole numbers and fractions. Their sense of empathy is evident and how they handle stress also develops. they begin to decide what kind of music they prefer, what sports they like to play and if they enjoy getting messy in art. Our 4th and 5th graders are beginning to their transitions to oldest in elementary and youngest (again) in MS. They finalize their manner of studying, researching and work ethic. In math we have students who still don’t know if they “are not good at math” and we have the opportunity to remind them that they are. Their understanding of abstract thinking begins and they present us with their sense of grit and tenaciousness. They know if they are better at four square or soccer and if they prefer paint or clay.
Of course every grade level is showing us all of these things all the time but now is the time we get to celebrate the hard work we put in and watch them shine and develop into the wonderfu humans we know they are.
Enjoy this final push. It’s worth every minute!
