Recently, a conversation with a friend about living in Vietnam sparked a moment of gratitude for the unique experiences we’re privileged to have here at SSIS. It was particularly poignant as we gear up for the Lunar New Year. Our conversation reminded me of just how lucky we are to be able to experience both Western New Years and the Lunar New Years.
In the spirit of UBUNTU, which emphasizes our interconnectedness and the strength found in our community, I’m filled with a sense of eager anticipation for these next two days. I hope you’re feeling a similar excitement, a kind that mirrors the joy we all share as major holidays approach.
This brief period is especially meaningful for our colleagues, students, and friends who celebrate Lunar New Years. It’s an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the traditions and stories that make the Lunar New Year so rich and vibrant.
As we prepare to celebrate, let’s remember that while our New Year’s observances may differ, the essence of our gatherings is the same. It’s these shared experiences of joy, reflection, and unity that draw us closer together. Let’s embrace this chance to learn from one another and to strengthen the bonds within our community, even if it’s just for a couple of days.
Remember also, that our students are filled with the excitement of the coming New Year and may behave excitedly. We are here to support you and them if anything comes up.
