Oct. 29-Nov. 2

Dear ES Team,

I hope everyone had a good week!  There seemed to be great energy and enthusiasm throughout the ES classrooms.  I will be heading to Bangkok on Friday morning (along with several other teachers). I will also be checking emails throughout the day, but if there is an emergency, please contact Jacob Humes.

Enjoy the weekend!

Cheers,

Donna

  • We are trying to appropriately and positively engage our parents through our PTA.  Here is our current list of parents who expressed interest in being a room parent. We explained to the parents (during a meeting) that every teacher approaches parent support differently and needs may vary depending on the grade, class, event, etc.  We are having a ES PTA room parent meeting next week– we will discuss some upcoming events such as the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon and International Day. Here is the most up-to-date PTA Room Parent List.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

Reminders:

  • Innovate SSIS is just around the corner. We would be grateful for your help in supervising a station at some point in the afternoon. Please choose a station and time slot on this document. You only need to sign up for one 45-minute supervision during the event, but you are more than welcome to do more than one if you would like to.
  • Students should only wear PE shorts on days they have PE.  Please help us monitor this.
  • If you are attending PD, please remember to submit a leave request through the HR portal. This will help us secure a sub for the days you will be absent.
  • If you have atrium duty during the first recess, please stay until the next teacher on atrium duty person shows up.  This will ensure there is at least one adult outside during the lunch/recess transition.
  • When you are booking a room, please factor in set-up and clean-up time on the calendar.

Class Meeting Topics:

  • Review table manners and personal responsibility (cleaning up).

Announcements:

  • Grade 5 celebration of music concert details are in the blog for the next few weeks please.
    • Date November 22
    • Auditorium
    • Starting time 6pm
  • Single use plastic water bottles will be banned starting on October 22. The Student Store will have the current water bottles for sale.  In addition, the school is developing a school bottle for those who prefer a bottle without a straw. The Caterers are fully on board and plan to terminate the sale of single use plastic water bottles on October 22.
  • Innovate SSIS:  Please join us on Wednesday, Nov 6 from 3:30-6:00 for our fourth annual Innovate SSIS event, where both parents and students get to experience our 21st century way of learning. At this family friendly event, student creations will be showcased and shared with parents, students, and faculty. You are invited to experience the creative inventions of ES/MS/HS students as well as create and make your own. Watch this video to see what this event is all about. See you at 3:30 sharp for the opening ceremony in the auditorium.
  • Our yearbook theme this year is EXPLORE– framed in an Indiana Jones treasure hunt theme.  As we think about grade level photos, we’d like to collect (borrow) some costumes and props.  Please bring any items to Truc.
  • Please remember to book our school photographer if you have a special event.
