I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people. (Maya Angelou)
Dear ES Team.
The end of this very challenging school year is right around the corner and a well-deserved summer break is now in sight! This week’s blog is dedicated to you all—the inspirational people I get to call my colleagues!
SSIS Heroic Leadership:
We know that children thrive in environments framed in love and not fear. They learn and perform best when their families, teachers, and coaches set high standards and genuinely value them as individuals. Honestly, it’s not just children who thrive under these conditions, we all do! The best teams I have worked on have been anchored in trust, mutual support, and deep respect. The genuine interest in helping others both personally and professionally directly translates to building a strong and united collective capacity—and “heroic leadership” frames this culture.
Heroic leadership principles are rooted in the notion that we are all leaders and that our lives are filled with opportunities to lead. We can be leaders in everything we do—in our work and in our daily lives. As leaders we strive to approach our personal and professional lives with a positive attitude and outlook– and this helps us generate the energy needed to excel and help those around us reach their full potential. I believe at SSIS, it’s more than what we do, but rather who we are and how we live that makes us a successful community.
At SSIS our school’s collective leadership became more visible during the COVID 19 crisis. Everyone confidently innovated and adapted to this dynamic and ever-changing world this past semester–and Instead of talking about leadership, we were committed to living it. During these challenging times you all maintained high personal and professional standards without compromising love, care, concern, and respect for all. I am both humbled and grateful for being surrounded by an incredible group of heroic leaders!
