Feb. 8th – 12th

This week, we celebrate Kindness Week, a time to recognize the impact of small gestures and intentional acts that create a culture of care and respect.

Kindness isn’t just a theme for the week—it’s something we cultivate daily. Whether it’s through a smile, a helping hand, or words of encouragement, these moments matter. They shape our relationships, strengthen our community, and help every student feel seen, valued, and supported.

Throughout the week, students will engage in activities that encourage them to notice kindness, practice kindness, and celebrate kindness. As educators, we have the privilege of modeling this, creating learning spaces where kindness isn’t just encouraged—it’s a way of being.

A Simple Reflection

🌼 How are you modeling kindness in your classroom?
🌼 How are you encouraging students to recognize and appreciate kindness in one another?

Let’s continue to lead with kindness and make this week a meaningful one for all of our students.

A Message from Kristy

Dear SSIS Team,

I’m thrilled to be joining SSIS to work with all of you beginning next school year! It was lovely to meet so many teachers and staff members during my interview process and while visiting campus in early December. Your warmth, dedication, and the amazing work you do as a school community was evident, and I am excited to contribute to and grow alongside such a dedicated and talented team.

Teaching and learning are at the core of who I am. I’m passionate about exploring all aspects of education, from innovative and research-based approaches to instruction to creating environments where students and staff feel empowered to grow. Most importantly, I believe in the power of relationships, and that these are at the heart of our work. Getting to know each of you- your strengths, ideas, and perspectives- will be essential as we work together to support students and families.

I know our days as educators are incredibly busy, and that balancing work with life outside the classroom is a continuous struggle, but if any of you would like to connect before my official arrival in July, I would be happy to hear from you! Please feel free to email me at kristycsensich@gmail.com, and we can arrange a time for a video chat or we can just connect via email. Whether it’s to share about your experiences at SSIS, talk about goals for the year ahead, or simply to get acquainted, I look forward to these connections.

Thank you for welcoming me into the SSIS community. While it is certainly bittersweet to be leaving my school community here in Barcelona, I am eager to embark on a new journey with all of you.

Warmly,
Kristy Csensich
