What a difference a year makes. At this time last year, we were going through adaptive schools training. We were learning how to run effective meetings and the value and importance of norms and agendas. Now, a year later, we are well on our way to implementing these strategies that allow us to work towards providing the best possible education for our students. I was fortunate to attend EARCOS this week as well and look forward to sharing the learning from the conference. There was a strong focus on AI, well-being, and supporting the needs of all learners. Last week’s week-long professional development experience was a resounding success, bringing forth a wealth of growth and reflection. Every moment was a testament to our commitment to providing exceptional education. With an enriched toolkit of knowledge and innovative strategies, we are poised to make some great strides in our instruction around reading. We also reflected on the need to communicate more clearly with each other and vertically between grade levels. We learned where we have gaps and we have a better understanding of the gaps our students have and need to overcome. We reflected on the challenges of meeting every...

In my 22 years of education, I’ve heard rumors of faraway schools that have dedicated professional development (PD) for an entire week. It always seemed like an urban legend, and the idea of a whole week devoted to sharpening our teaching skills felt like a distant dream. It turns out those schools do exist, and our school will now be among them. The upcoming week is set to be a transformative period of professional development, with a strong focus on enhancing our literacy instruction. We’re fortunate to have Hannah Fernweh from Erin Kent Consulting joining us for the entire week,...

The school is buzzing with excitement and growth. Teachers are seizing professional development opportunities to enhance their teaching strategies. These events bring valuable knowledge and expertise to our staff, enriching the learning experiences for our students. ASAs provide a platform for students to explore their passions and develop new skills outside the classroom. Sports teams foster teamwork and resilience while representing our school in friendly competition. By embracing these opportunities, our school community thrives, creating...

As we prepare for the shortened week ahead and the continued launch of our super units, I am reminded of the importance of empowering and inspiring our students. Each day in the classroom is an opportunity for us to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to make a difference in their lives and the world around them. Let us remember that our impact extends far beyond a shortened week, and let us approach every day with passion, dedication, and a commitment to nurturing the minds and hearts of our students. In essence, keep doing what...
