Week Update: Nov. 10

This has been a great week and weekend for PD.  Thanks for your work on Wednesday focused on our writing analysis and actions steps.  This was followed on Friday with a morning looking at standards and rubrics with our HS colleagues.  Continuing on the theme, Robert Appino, Ana Nevado, Gary Johnston, Lori Uemura, Andrea Coffey, Danielle Richert, Amy Flynn, Steve Coffey, and I all spent time focused on more data analysis processes during the weekend workshop with Jennifer Sparrow.

For your calendar: PD Date Swap, March 30 from March 27
To try to make the most of our PD dates, we have swapped March 27 for March 30th for PD.  This is so we can have another awesome PD day where everyone can attend.  So those attending the EARCOS Teachers’ Conference March 26-28 won’t by default miss our school wide PD.  Our google calendars have been updated … but if you are like me, you wouldn’t have noticed something that far in advance.

Another date change: Talent Show moves to Dec. 19
In order to increase the number of talented students performing at the Middle School Talent Show, we have decided to postpone the event until December 19th, 9-10:30 AM (was supposed to be this Tuesday night).  The secondary benefit to this is that all can attend the show this way (we will see if this is actually how we want to proceed in the future as well … a day show where we can all attend).  While many 7th grade students have signed up to participate, we are still looking for more – especially students in grades 6 and 8.  Please encourage your students to talk with Mr. Ada about joining the roster of performances.  All types of talents are sought: juggling, martial arts, gymnastics, dance, singing, musical performances, spoken poetry, comedy, and more!  And what about a staff skit?  Robert and I have already started dreaming of ideas … what could we do!?  Get those thinking caps on …
