Dental Lessons on Flossing
The Taiwan Dental Association has offered to deliver an oral hygiene lesson to our students. They will be here Dec. 4 from 9:35-12:15. They will be speaking to students in PE and also have time to include other classes. This will be during E and F blocks. Please email me if you’d like them to speak with your class. The lesson includes information as well as hands on practice (20 min.).
Evaluation of Faculty Members
I would like to meet with each faculty member for about 15-30 minutes regarding the evaluation system we are piloting this year. For all faculty in years 2+, we will be meeting to determine the domains from C. Danielson that we will be focused on for your evaluation. Please use the Google Calendar Invite tool to schedule a meeting with me in the next 2 weeks. Click HERE in case you can’t find the eval documents quickly. I tried to put them in the 14-15 MS Divisional folder in Google Drive.
Cool Instruction/Assessment Tip of the Week:
I think I’ve been under a rock … well an American rock at least. Until last week, the name John Hattie didn’t ring a bell for me. Now it does! John Hattie, New Zealand educational researcher and professor, is the author of Visible Learning and Visible Learning for Teachers. He has published a meta-analysis focused on understanding the effect size of educational practices. Click here to hear Hattie talk about how to use his work in the context of our daily work with students. Another great way to dip your toe into the work of John Hattie is to watch this 3 1/2 min. video about the 8 Mind Frames for Teachers.
