Conferences This Week: In preparation for Parent Teacher Conferences Thursday and Friday, here are a few additional details:

  • We will have dinner starting at 3:00 in the MS faculty lounge (banh mi sandwiches, salad, fruit, juice) for those that need some fuel before conferences start on Thursday.  During conferences, there will be coffee, tea, and cookies for snacking.
  • The gap between 12:15 and 4 is open time on Thursday. When you are done at 1:00 on Friday, feel free to use the afternoon as you wish.
  • Conferences are arena style in the MS gym (along with HS)
  • Be prepared for heavy attendance Thursday night, lighter attendance throughout the day on Friday (I’ll be sending out an email on Friday helping parents understand this trend … hoping to encourage more parents to come throughout the day on Friday if possible)
  • Please keep track of your attendance in the following time periods: Thursday PM; Friday 8-11, 11-1.    I will be tabulating it in this document if you want to help add the data.  Otherwise, email it to me.

International Week Update:  We have completed almost all the ES/MS match ups.  Please review the International Week Overview to ensure that you are aware of the whole school picture; and theInternational Week At A Glance (Middle School Focus).

Need Volunteer to Serve on Curriculum Framework Committee:  We are looking for a 2nd middle school faculty member to join Zach Post on the Curriculum Framework Advisory Team.  The members of this team give feedback throughout the development phase.  The initial time commitment would be 3-4 meetings during this school year.  Meetings would be held during the day using release time.  Please contact Molly if you are interested (or would like more information to determine if you are interested).

Cool Instructional/Assessment Tip:  So many great things shared by our own faculty.  I hope you enjoyed TTT as much as I did.  Here are some of the topics that our MS faculty shared:  Choice, Voice, and Technology in the classroom (Kattina Fox); Beyond Google: SSIS Databases (Lara Keller and Brian Benck); How to creatively use video materials for a dynamic language classroom environment (Ana Nevad0); Jing (Eric Schoonard); Moodle (Zach Post); Wunderlist (Molly Burger); The Calming Activity of Archery (Lisa Cuthbertson); Creative Uses with iPads for all Subjects (Rebecca Jardin); Global Online Projects:  Getting Started (Abena Bailey).  Am I proud that just over 50% of the presentations were by middle school faculty? Yep!
