Week Ahead: May 23

Thank you all so much for the very festive start to my day.  A spirit day that allowed me to wear jeans, chocolate cake, chocolate covered shortbread stars, and beautiful flowers are surely enough to put a skip in my step!

It’s been a great (and very busy) week.  Loads of congratulations to Rebecca Jardin and her students for an amazing Art Party.   Next week brings a few more big events with delivery of food to Anh Linh Love School, Orphan Impact’s visit, and drama productions for Gr 7 and Gr 8 … culminating in graduation on Saturday.  Whew!  Let’s all pull together to make it another fantastic week!

Grading and Comment Deadlines:  As noted on the Google Calendars, the comment and grade report deadlines are as follows –

• May 25 – divisional time (3:15-4:30) for writing and/or reviewing comments
• June 3 – soft deadline for comments to have been reviewed by peers
• June 6 – Grade and comments due by 3:00
• June 7 – Verification reports due by 3:15
• June 8 – Report cards printed
• June 9 – Report cards and end of year documents distributed in Advisory

Master Schedule for 16-17 Finished:  The master schedule appears to be finished … that means I think it has team preps, department preps, co-taught classes and preps, and is laid out in a way that maximizes student primary requests … but Nghi and Bonnie will be taking a final look before we roll it out to all faculty.  I’m hoping that I’ll be able to send out a copy early next week for all to take a look at.  Big thanks to Nghi, David, and Bonnie for all their work on the schedule.

End of Year Schedules and Clearances:  We are working to keep this information clear and up to date.  After the Leadership Team Monday, we should be able to finalize all special schedules and get them out.  We will be using a Google Document for student clearance this year.  Students will be directed to check the document to see what they need to complete.  Please be looking at your Advisory group to assist with how they are doing.  The document will go out to students on June 6th.  Teacher clearance is also done through a Google Document.  This will be sent out soon as well.

Semester 2 Assessment Calendar: It is time to set out the assessment plan for May/June.  In order to support high achievement for our students, we need to carefully plan the assessment / project load for the end of the semester.  Stressed out, overloaded students will not create their best work.  Please add any assessment and large project due in May/June (it doesn’t matter whether it’s being completed in class or out of class).  If needed, I will bring the grade level teachers together to resolve any overload situations.  Gr 6 Assessment Calendar, Gr 7 Assessment Calendar, Gr 8 Assessment Calendar
