Welcome Back!

Welcome back to the start of a new school year! In education, we are lucky that we always get a new start in our job. It’s one of my favorite times of the year … you can just feel the exciting building, as we get ready for the return of our students.

They are here! I’m so excited for you to meet our newest colleagues. They are a great group full of energy and enthusiasm. We are privileged to have them joining us. Here is a reminder of who they are:

  • Ryan Butz – Science
  • Rick Freil – PE/Health
  • Dawne Kaba – PE/Health
  • Andrea Khambalia – Social Studies
  • Elizabeth (Liz) Stanley – PE/Health (arriving August 14)
  • Katherine (Kate) Werner – Learning Support
  • Emily Wolf – Social Studies

As usual, there has been an incredible amount of work done around campus over the summer. Some you will notice right away; other things might not catch your eye but have a big impact overall. Here is a run down of some of the things done in the MS:

  • Replace divider curtain in gym
  • Paint interior classrooms (using newly approved paint pallet colors; softer grey wall color with 1 accent wall color), offices, and canteen
  • Install roller blinds in all classrooms, floors 1-3
  • Develop prototype modular cabinetry created (to be tested by Abena Bailey)
  • Rebuild science storage room cabinetry
  • Add privacy screens to all boys bathrooms
  • Refurbish of hallway lockers
  • Replace locker room lockers
  • Expansion of Robotics/Coding room (enclose 2nd floor foyer w/class); remove 2 banks of lockers, add half wall windows and trophy cases; add shelving and cabinetry in server room, A209 and A213
  • Electrical: Transformer upgrade – from 500 KVA to 750 KVA
  • AC: Replace Chiller and Chiller Control Panel
  • AC: AHU – Air filter replacement
  • Sprinkler: replace pump, from building A to B

Projects not yet completed but still scheduled:

  • Add curtains to upper windows in the gym for sound dampening; add sound panels to reduce ambient noise
  • Replace the cabinetry in classrooms (once prototypes are reviewed and finalized)

The in-service schedule for Aug. 2-8 will be emailed to you by Tina Fossgreen. We have tried to balance school wide, divisional and individual needs as we planned the time. Our first event on Tuesday, August 2 is breakfast starting at 7:30 and the opening session following at 8:00 in the Auditorium.

Travel safe and see you all soon!

Looking forward to another great year,

Molly
