School Pictures: Sang has shared the photo schedule. Thank you in advance for staying ontime so that we can keep on schedule. We also need all teachers to take (yes, another) photo for the yearbook. Be do that when you take your class … or if you aren’t taking a class, pop in either right before or right after one of the sessions.
MAP Testing: Testing will be on Sept. 8, 13, and 16. Here is a draft of the schedule and proctoring plans. Please know that I will be meeting with the MSLT and Tina to review these and set up proctor training. There may be slight changes based on those meetings.
Supervision Schedule Revisions: I have finally completed the supervision schedule revisions based (to put Rebecca in the Art room at lunch each day). Please take a look to see what might have changed (or not changed) for you. A huge thanks to Greg Jardin for picking up an extra duty to make it all work.
ASCD Webinar: The timing is poor, but the content is great. Let me now if you’d like to sign up for this webinar.
Over the past fifteen years, neuroscience researchers have revealed previously unknown changes that take place in the adolescent brain between puberty and young adulthood, and that account for their impulsivity, risky behavior, emotional displays, and hunger for peer affiliation. Join Thomas Armstrong, author of the new ASCD book The Power of the Adolescent Brain: Strategies for Teaching Middle and High School Students, in an engaging webinar where he will describe some of the major research findings and suggest specific interventions that middle and high school educators can implement in the classroom based on that research.
The overall focus of the webinar will be on educators working to empower adolescents to use their inherent insight, passion, idealism, sensitivity, and creative impulses to further their growth and propel their movement into early adulthood and beyond.
