MS/HS Art Party– (borrowed from HS blog) The MS/HS Art Party is Wednesday, May 17 from 3:15-5:30. This is a great event where students and adults get to experiment themselves in interactive art workshops as well as see an amazing display of MS/HS art. FYI, our art students will be allowed to wear a black t-shirt (with uniform bottoms) to school during the day as a reminder to staff and students to come to the event and to be easily recognizable after school to others.
Shifted Dates / Semester 2 Deadlines Grades and Comments: We have opted to shift the Grade 5 Transition Activity to May 22 in hopes that Bonnie might be back at that time. We have also worked to shift the Grade 8 Promotion and All Division Splash Day to Wednesday June 7. This means we will have one less “sort of weird” day to contend with at the end of the year. Due to this shift, we will also be shifting the grade/comment deadline back by one day to allow for the final Monday and Tuesday to be as “regular” a school day as possible even including potentially assessed for the grade book work.
- June 2 – soft deadline for comments completed and reviewed (in S2); grades completed; admin review over weekend
- June 6 – comments completed and peer reviewed (in S2 bin) and grades completed by 3:00; verification reports printed at 3:00
- June 7 – verification report reviewed, signed (can be digital) and returned to office by 12:30
- June 8 – distribution of report cards (Final report cards printed June 7 at 12:30)
Keeping track of the Calendar : There are lots of things coming up in the last weeks of school. Please be sure to check the planning calendar, the Google calendars, and the blog to make sure you are up to date.
New Helpdesk Request Form: From IT: In our effort of continuous improvement we have developed a new Helpdesk Request Form. This form will help to gather the required data to expedite helpdesk requests. To submit a helpdesk ticket point your web browser to helpdesk.ssis.edu.vn. Please note: You must be logged in to your school Google Account to submit a ticket.
HS Graduation: Complete Graduation Transport Form by May 12. (I borrowed this email from Dan – he put it so well) … This year, 21 of our seniors graduating from SSIS started in our elementary school! In conversations at the Academic Leadership Team, we agreed that in order to recognize the contributions that teachers from all 3 divisions make toward helping our students graduate, we will not only invite all EC-12 teachers to attend the graduation ceremony, but they are also officially invited to process as members of the EC-12 faculty. We are very excited that all faculty members are invited to be a formal part of the ceremony and hope many of you are eager to see our oldest students graduate. HS Graduation will take place on Saturday, 27 May 2017 at 4pm downtown.
Project X– (stole this one from HS blog too) On our early release PD day on May 19th we will be learning about Project X and inquiry based learning. Next year all students at SSIS from grades 2-9 will be participating in a week long open inquiry project between winter and Tet breaks. Teachers from all divisions of the school will be supporting our students during the week for short segments of time. A lot more info will come on May 19.
