Week Ahead: May 22

The energy level is super high in the middle school … it is truly palpable.  From the outstanding Art Party Wednesday to the Food Drive delivery Friday to the upcoming Gr 7 Renaissance Fair and Gr 8 Human Rights Showcase to the Gr 8 Drama production and the Gr 7 and 8 Music Concert … oh and throw in prepping for the Gr 8 Promotion, Yearbook distribution and Splash Day … I’m not sure their little bodies can take the excitement!

With all this going on, and missing a key member of our faculty who generally keeps the pulse on student issues/needs, I am hoping that we will all step up our game.  Be out in the halls as much as possible; step in an redirect when issues are small; never ignore your Spidey-sense related to student issue – proactive, proactive proactive!

HOS Search:  If you haven’t had a chance to complete this short survey, please take a minute to do so: A short, three-question survey has been prepared to solicit from the community (students, parents and teachers), thoughts on the critical traits and skills which are needed in our next Head of School. You can access the survey here. We ask that all parents, teachers, and students (grades 6-12) share their thoughts with the search group. This survey will close on Friday evening, 19 May 2017.

Update on Counseling Services:  Bonnie and Gary are still supporting Bonnie’s mother while she is in the hospital.  The diagnosis of her mother is terminal cancer.  In light of this, Bonnie has asked for a leave of absence for the remainder of the year.  Gary will be returning this weekend and will come back to school Monday to close out the year with his students.  Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

We are so thankful for the assistance of Chris Anderson this past week – and in the coming week.  However, Chris will be departing for the US on May 27 – so Friday, May 26 will be his last day with us.  I am working on finding a solution for the last 2 weeks.  As soon as I find one, I’ll share that out.

Calendar Updates: Be sure to check the ever shifting sands of the calendar.  I’m really trying to keep up with the small changes that are happening.  If you notice that something isn’t quite right, please let me know right away.
