Report Cards and Parent Teacher Conferences: Please make sure the due dates and times for grades/comments are on your calendar. We have pushed them back as far as possible to make sure you have as much time as possible to have things correct. This means we cannot have anyone be late with their grades/comments/verifications. If you have any questions be sure to ask them as soon as possible. PTC will be arena style as we have done for the past 5 years. During PTCs, please track the number of students who are represented. We will use this Google Doc for tracking attendance. You will need to track attendance in 3 time sections – 4-8pm, 8-10am, 10am-1pm.
Author Visit: We have our first author visit of the year! We are welcoming Luka Lesson back to SSIS (he previously visited in 2015). Luka is an award winning slam poet. He will be with us for 3 days in November. We will have a morning assembly for the entire division. Then each grade level will have a workshop with Luka. It’s going to be amazing!
Getting Ready for hosting: We are hosting the MS MRISA Basketball Tournament. This is going to be such a fun experience for all of the students. We are still working on the final details, but we have determined a few things. We will all be able to attend the Opening Ceremony which will be from 8-8:30; then we will return to a 4 block schedule (I’ll post the schedule soon).
- Goal of great sportsmanship; kindness to all; positive, peppy attitudes; great impression on how we run a tournament
- Expectation of participation for all at some level
- MS attendance at opening assembly to assist with building spirit (hopefully space will allow this)
- Role of StuCo and Spirit Club as well as special committees (working this out still)
- Guaranteed attendance at all games to create exciting atmosphere for all players (with ES and MS groups assigned to cheer for other teams)
- Visible signs of spirit and welcome
