Week Ahead: Jan. 7-11

Welcome back!  I hope you all had a great time relaxing and reconnecting with friends and family.  As we get back to work with our students, let’s work to help them settle, reconnect with their friends, and refocus on the exiting learning that is going to happen in 2nd semester.  To assist with that, we will start with advisory on Tuesday.  Please see the full schedule below.

Gearing up for 19-20 (yep, already):  Registration for 19-20 will begin this month for Gr 8 students.  We will start Gr 6 and 7 registration in February / March.  Here is the link for Gr 8 sessions and dates: SY 19-20 Gr 8 Registration Sessions.  Per our agreement about Advisory (using it for advisory topics only and not administrative tasks), we have set the registration sessions during different blocks and in DEAR.  This means that many teachers will be affected by this.  Please be sure to review the schedule for how it might impact you.  Gr 8 advisors are expected to attend all sessions.  Here is the schedule for Gr 8 registration:

• Jan 16  12:10-12:35 (from F Block)
• Jan 30  1:15-12:35 (some from G Block)
• Feb 13  1:15-12:35 (some from  A Block)
• Feb 19  1:15-1:55 (some from C Block)

Importance of Duty Schedule: Please remind yourself of your duty assignments.  During duty, it is expected that teachers actively monitor students.  This includes ensuring that food and beverages aren’t brought into those locations.  The only place students may eat is the cafeteria and cafeteria patio.  This includes smoothies.  Unfortunately, students are leaving many messes that draw different bugs and creepy crawlies.  Thank you for your attention to this.

Tet Coming Soon:  The Tet break starts very soon after this Winter Holiday.  Keep in mind that no homework can be assigned over Tet.  Please plan accordingly.
