Closing out the quarter in fine style!  I can’t thank you all enough for the amazing work you have do so far this year.  Looking at just this week and next, I appreciate your active engagement in the Positive Education professional development, your guidance of students during the assembly, your dedication to creating meaningful comments and accurate grades, persistence in getting our GIN students to delivery the libraries to a rural school, our science team participating in the NGSS training, participating as needed in the WASC visit, supporting the Grade 7 Science field trip, and preparing for Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Whew!  As we work through next week, please let us know how we can support you.  Fall break is going to feel so so good!

Parent Teacher Conferences: This is such a great time to get to know our parents and talk about how we can all work together to support our students.  As you get set for Parent Teacher Conferences, here are some tips:

  • Be prepared with documentation formatted in such a way that you won’t accidentally share information about another student
  • If you have concerns to share with a parent, have an equal number of positive things to share as well
  • Take care of your own personal needs – there will be food (see below), and make sure to have plenty of water
  • Be in the gym 15 min. before the start time
  • Have a timing device that you can set for 5 minutes – this will help ensure that you move along with each family and help keep wait times reasonable for parents

We will be tracking attendance at the conferences in time chunks.  Please complete this form for Thursday 4-8; Friday 8-10 and Friday 10-1.  Count each student (count them twice if you have them for two subjects).

In preparation for conferences, we arranged for food on Thursday at about 3:00.  Make sure you put in your order via Hang’s form.  On Friday, we will have a sandwich and wrap station running from 8-12ish.

PE Dance Celebration Schedules and Events: We are coming up to the PE Dance Celebration.  This is an amazing event that requires all of us to assist and support.  We will be running special schedules on Oct. 23 and 24 in support of this event.  On Wednesday, Oct. 23 we will run the early dismissal block schedule followed by lunch and then the afternoon will be a full school rehearsal.  All teachers will be required to be in the rehearsal area (auditorium) to assist with management of students.  On Thursday, Oct. 24, we will run the same basic schedule as Wednesday (early dismissal block scheduled, followed by lunch) but instead of rehearsal it will be a matinee performance in the afternoon.  Again, all faculty members will need to be on hand assisting with management of students during the matinee.  Here are the actual schedules:
