From a very busy week capped off with parent teacher student conferences to what I hope was a very restful and rejuvenating week for all of us. There is a lot of fun for us to have in the coming quarter. Halloween is right around the corner! StuCo really hopes you will all join in the fun.

Morning Duty:

Author Virtual Visit:  We are so excited to host Margaret Peterson Haddix, author of The Greystone series, The Shadow Children series, Children of Exile series, The Palace Chronicles, Under Their Skin series, and many young adult stand alone books. This virtual visit will be on October 21 at 8:00am. This is the schedule for that day (please review for clarity, errors, and suggestions):

• 8-8:40 Dragon Time: Author Visit

• 10:00-11:10 Block 2
• 11:15-11:55 Block 3 (split)
• 11:55-12:20 Lunch 1 / Recess 1

Recess Duties During 2nd Quarter: While many students will be shifting the times they eat and have recess, teacher duty assignments will remain the same. This will avoid everyone having to remember a different duty assignment day and time. This will also provide opportunities for students and teachers who might not otherwise overlap to connect. 

MS Rep for Food Committee: Mel Sylvester is looking for 1-2 middle school faculty members to serve on the Food Committee. Please email Mel directly if you are interested.

Cafeteria Duty in the Morning: With larger group sizes allowed in the library, we don’t need to do library passes in the morning. So any student can go to the library starting at 7:30.

New Faculty Bus Routes – Morning: Please see below is the new bus route for the Faculty from Oct 19. 

BUS 4

• 6:50 Riviera Point (bus stop area – Gate Tower 3-4-5)
• 7:00  Scenic Valley & Green Valley (pick up point at Pizza 4P’s)
• 7:05  Happy Valley (Gate R18)

BUS 1

• 7:00               Happy Residence (gs25 shop), My Khang
• 7:05               Canh Vien 1,2,3,  Nam Phuc
• 7:10               Greenview
• 7:15               Crescent Residence 2

Drop- off in the afternoon

• First trip      @           3:40pm
• Second trip @           4:30pm
• Every Wednesday the second trip @  4:45pm

Evacuation Drill Update: Thank you for supporting students in the first evacuation drill. There are a few things that we need to improve upon:

1. Speed up our evacuation time. We cleared the building in over 4 minutes. Our goal is to evacuate the building within 2 minutes.
2. Students were not silent in the stairwells and in the hall.
3. Students ran in the hall.
4. Students were not silent on the field.
