Week Ahead: May 10-14
|Thank you for the care you showed for students and each other on Friday. For a difficult day, it was absolutely the best it could be thanks to all your efforts. While shifting to Virtual School has a sort of “been there, done that” feel, I don’t want to minimize the impact this will have on all of us in the community. Let’s work together closely to support each other, our students, and our families (both personal and professional).
As previously shared, we have adjusted the week to have A-D on Tuesday and Thursday; E-H on Wednesday and Friday. This is to minimize disruption and to maximize learning time in all courses.
Please review the details of our Virtual School plan ensuring consistency in experience for our students as they move to the virtual environment. Of particular importance, please review expectations for posting on PowerSchool Learning, posting assignments, and grading/assessment (especially the marking of missing work). Also note that professional dress is still required during Virtual School.

Virtual School Shift: I have had to alter the time of our divisional meeting on Monday to accommodate some administration meetings. We will now have our divisional meeting from 10:30-11:30. Please see the the calendar above as well as the MS Faculty Google calendar. I am not sure that we will need the whole time, but I want to make sure we check in and have all questions/concerns answered.
For upcoming events, we are proceeding with as many as possible in a virtual environment. We will provide details about format and any other shifts that might need to happen as we develop those plans.
Planning for next Wednesday: We will begin planning the assembly for next week. I am have been reflecting on Mona’s comment about Wednesdays being a lonely day for students. My hope is that we can find some optional activities for students who aren’t being requested for 1:1 or small group support. Please put your thinking caps on for what might be some good options and possibilities.
Star360 Screener: David Chadwell is helping us to administer the Star screeners virtually. I will have more information once I meet with him on Monday. However, I do not think this will require assistance from teachers/advisors. I believe we will be administering in a large group.
Understanding CTP Scores: I will be working with David Chadwell to create a “how to understand your CTP scores” video for students. We will also be reviewing this data in the division (I just haven’t figured out when yet …). I am very eager to compare the CTP with the Star screener data and see how that will inform our work.
Master Schedule: I am making headway on the master schedule. I hope to have a “pretty close” draft for review. I will need each person to review the proposed schedule looking for any errors or problems that have been missed. It is a complex puzzle, and it takes all eyes to spot issues.
Interesting Summer PD: Please check out some of the summer PD offerings that are being shared by David Chadwell. If you are interested, let me know. I am trying to find some additional PD funds that we might be able to use to supplement the cost.
