Week Ahead Nov. 8-12

It is going to be very exciting to see all of us on campus on Thursday and Friday.  For some of us, it will be fun to reconnect and  see each other in person for the first time (in a long time or for the first time).  However, for others, it might be overwhelming and a bit stressful.  As we go through the day, my hope is that we can be sensitive to each other’s perspectives – and to communicate clearly our personal needs.  We can trust each other to be accepting and responsive to that.

PD Days on Nov. 11 and 12

We will have two meeting times during the PD days.  On Thursday from 1-2; Friday from 9-10.  Other than those two meetings, the time on Nov. 11 and 12 is at your discretion.  One main thing to focus on is getting your room ready for the eventual return of students.  To this end, please ensure the following:

  1. You have enough seating spaces to allow for students to be 1m apart (in all directions).  This may mean you need to request extra desks using HelpDesk.
  2. Set up the seating areas so that students will be 1m apart (in all directions) and all facing the same direction.
  3. If your classroom has 2 door, set the door on the right (when standing in the hallway) as “In” and the door on the left as “out”.  Signs are provided for you in your mailbox.
  4. Set up a hand sanitizing station near the “in” door.

From WOW Team:

We’d like to take this opportunity to update you on some upcoming events and learning in November that support our wellness goal.

This month, we will be focusing on “Positive Emotions” from the PERMAH framework. Given our current context, we believe this to be important for all of our stakeholders: faculty, students and parents.

FACULTY:  In response to faculty feedback, we have “flipped” our wellness professional learning to be a 20 minute video created by David Bott that can be viewed whenever suits you best. You will find this video attached. Divisional principals will be communicating when this video should be viewed before as it will be reflected on together, in an upcoming divisional meeting. [Please watch by Friday 9am]

Showcasing MS Art:

Are you curious what we have been doing in middle school art, without our usual materials, and working virtually?   Choice boards were the solution, and here are their fabulous results.   Enjoy this short video.

Ultimate Frisbee (from Mona):

Just want to let everyone know about our weekly staff game of ultimate frisbee on Wednesdays.  We all meet up on the back field after meetings.  A great way to end a long day on a fun note.  If interested just come to the back fields.   If you can’t come but want to play in the future you can give me your number and we can put you on our Whatsapp group.
