Week Ahead: April 25-April 29

There are so many great things to come between now and June 10.  When I think of the way a school year closes out, I have an image of a river.  And the river is picking up speed, a few rocks are thrown in the middle, and some rapids are created.  The noise and the rush of water increases.  So does the excitement!  In my image, we are all pulling hard together in the boat – us and our students, sun shining on our faces, big grins, enjoying every last little splash the year has to give us.  The quiet after the river rapids always comes, but for now, let’s all enjoy the ride!

Upcoming (on the radar)

  • see below … take a deep breath … there’s a lot of events coming 🙂

CTP Testing:

Huge thanks again to everyone for a successful start to CTP testing.  We have 2 more days and makeups to support.  While it’s definitely a logistical effort and feat, the best part of all this is that we are collecting data on our students that we can use for planning and student support.  This academic data combined with the student survey data is going to give us many things to consider as we close out this year and plan for next year. I will be working with David Chadwell on a plan for makeups.  The largest group will be the G6 students who had their vaccination on the first testing day.

Here are the relevant documents and links:
CTP Student Groups and Testing Locations for posting (please do not share this doc with students; it has EAL and LS information on it and student ID numbers)
  • Here is the special schedule for testing days

Advisory/Dragon Time this week:

Allocation for 1:05-1:35 block for 2 weeks after spring break. Note on CTP testing days, there will be only a 25 minute block.  You can always see what’s on deck and find relevant links on the.  Advisory/Dragon Time Planning Calendar

2022-2023 Calendars:  Here are the most up-to-date calendars for the 2022-23 school year:

Parent and Students
Faculty and Staff

Sports Coming:

We are so happy to offer after school sports for grades 4-12 for a four week period starting XXX.  Students and parents have been informed of the sign ups, available sports, etc.  Thank you to those that have already volunteered to support the different teams.  If you are still interested, please contact Elizabeth Davenport.

Leadership Positions for 22-23:

I will be sending out the application for open leadership positions starting the 22-23 school year.  Leadership positions in the middle school have been instrumental in helping shape the division, support students, and respond to changing situations.  This is an excellent opportunity to help contribute to the growth and development of the division, to support strategic initiatives, and to develop your own leadership skills.

End of the Year Fun:

There are so many things that happen at the end of a school year.  Changing circumstances are making it possible for some activities we didn’t think would be possible!  Yea!  BUT it does take careful planning.  We want to give as much of a heads up as possible so that any planning impacts can be known as far in advance as possible.  So here, starts the “end of the year activities” mega-list.  These are organized by date and include the time it will be happening as well as off-timetable needs for rehearsal if that is known at this time.  Please note that when it says “Dragon Time” this may mean that advisory for that week may shift to another day (it doesn’t mean that advisory for that week is not happening).  Much of the scheduling has to do with when the auditorium is available (and it’s used in all 3 divisions – so we have to be flexible, collaborate and compromise).  Though we would love to have the entire MS at many of these events, we still are not allowed to have more than 1 grade level in the auditorium at a time.  BUT we get to have a grade level in there!!!!!

From here on, new items will be added in blue to quickly alert you to newly added events.  If you have something happening that you want on this list, please let me know:
