Week Ahead: May 16-20
|It’s time! The special schedules for different events start this week. Though we can do a quick review on Wednesday, please make sure you continue to read the blog and review the list of upcoming events so that you see what impact special schedules might have on you.
I have attempted to email all teachers who have a direct conflict with a grade level being on a special schedule this week (see Tuesday and Friday schedules) to make arrangements for coverage and class locations. If you do not have a conflict with, for example G7 being on a special schedule Friday, I did not email you specifically. So again, please read through the information on the blog. We have done our best to identify conflicts, but with so many moving parts, I (and the teachers planning these events) can’t see everything. It definitely takes a village! Thank you for your flexibility and support of your colleagues. These are all great things that are happening!
Thank you to all the coaches who started up last week! What an amazing level of energy it brought to the middle school. Gyms, fields, and the pool are definitely busy before and after school!

Tuesday Schedule, Rising G6 Step Up:
This is the day for G5 students to learn a bit more about middle school. G6 students and advisors will be participating in the event.
Impacts are as follows:
Students: G6 students only; they will follow the regular schedule from 8-1:00; from 1-3:00 they will be with their advisors and will miss H block
Teachers: G6 advisors will be with their advisees from 1-3:00 assisting with the Step Up day; teachers of G6 students during D block will not have their students (they do not need to support the Step Up day during this time)
Friday Schedule, G7 PE Dance Celebration:
Friday’s schedule is a bit more complicated. There are 3 schedules running:
G8 students – regular schedule, no changes
G6 students – will attend regular schedule 8-1:00; then D block from 1:05-1:55, then D block teacher will take them to auditorium for G7 performance
G7 students – special shortened block schedule from 8-12:15; then with PE teachers from 1-3:00
- 8-9:00 Block A
- 9:05-10:05 Block B

- 12:15-1 Lunch
- 1-3:00 [G7 PE Dance Celebration, students report to auditorium]
Teachers – please review the impact this has on when your classes are coming to you. For example, you G7 students be coming early, while your G8 students will be on the regular time. This will impact your prep blocks. If you have overlaps / conflicts, I have already emailed you and we have worked out the solution 🙂 If you have overlaps / conflicts and I haven’t contacted you, I’m sorry – let me know ASAP and we will work it out.
Other Events Upcoming:
Here are a few details about upcoming events that might be useful and provide a heads up.
May 25 – Senior Walk Through: We are very pleased to announce that we will be continuing the tradition of the Senior Walk Through on Wednesday, May 25. This is where high school seniors walk the halls of all three divisions, in cap and gown, and are applauded by students and staff as they proceed. They will be in the MS about 1:40-1:45. They will enter on the ground floor and make their way to the 4th floor before heading to the ES. We fill the halls, clapping and cheering them as they walk along. It means a great deal to the seniors, and it is a wonderful tradition. Be sure to grab a tissue if sweet, emotional events get you teary.
Tech Email from David P – and upcoming Check Out Tasks:
The end of the year brings close out tasks. Please see the email from David P regarding tech related close out tasks. This email includes information about iPad carts (last day of use is June 7); tech checked out to teachers like laptop, remotes, iPads (returning and/or keeping for the summer, June 10); and backing up your Google My Drive. You will also receive a check out list for other departments like HR, the business office, and the division itself. This will come from Thao. Please be sure to ask for assistance at any point along the way.
