Week Ahead: Mar. 6-10

This week is International Women’s Day.  I encourage all of us to #EmbraceEquity on Wednesday in celebration of the day.  International Women’s Day creates a worldwide focus on continuing to build gender equity.  Click here to learn a bit more about gender equity in Vietnam.  Click here to learn more about International Women’s Day.

Director of Educational Technology, Don McNamee:

We are welcoming Don McNamee to campus this week.  To set the stage for his visit, here is a short statement from him about his hopes for the visit:

As the incoming and inaugural Education Technology Director for SSIS, I am looking forward to connecting with faculty, staff, students and the wider community in conversations during the week of March 6-9, 2023 on campus. In addition to connecting with many of you in both person and practice, my initial goal is to begin to learn, understand, identify, advocate and celebrate instructional practices that are supported by education technologies – and areas that you wish to explore and develop further.

I’ve developed a number of questions for you to ponder and reflect, and if you have some time, to please respond ahead of our time(s) together to help in deeper dialogue (answer as many as you wish in advance).

Field Trip Procedures:

From Duong: Here’s the Field Trip Procedure we have put together. If you would like to arrange a Field trip for your students and do not know where to start, you can follow the steps in the file.  Please note that we are in the process of completing this file, there are a few last steps that we have not finalized yet, but we will complete them by the end of the week.   However, if you are in need of requesting a Field Trip now, you can start with the first steps as they will take a while to complete.

ES Sports Days:

Just an FYI that ES sports days are happening this week.  So excited to see all the fun the students are going to have!

  • Sports Day G4/G5: Monday, March 6th
  • Sports Day G2/G3: Monday, March 7th
  • Sports Day EC/K/1: Monday, March 8th

Feedback on PD:

From David Chadwell: I hope you were able to take advantage of Jan Chappuis being on campus this week. Please take a couple minutes to provide feedback on the week and thoughts about next steps.  Your input is critical in planning our process.”  Feedback and Input on Assessment with Jan Chappuis Feb 2023
