Week Ahead: April 17-21

April 20 – Partial Solar Eclipse, From Meg K:
This Thursday, April 20, at 11:20, there will be a partial solar eclipse that should be visible here in Ho Chi Minh. Although it is a partial and not as impressive as a total eclipse, it is still a rare event, and I hope we can see something. As I mentioned last month, we just finished studying this in science, and it would be great if the students could try to see this event (especially if you teach 6th grade this block, but anyone is welcome).
I talked with Molly last week and think we came up with a plan. The eclipse will peak at 11:20. This will be after testing and will be F block. I will have the pinhole papers to safely view the eclipse down there with me. (Probably front field) I will go down with my science class early to see if it is clear enough for us to see with our equipment. If it is, I will message either the 6th-grade chat or the CTP testing chat to let you know it is a go. As you know, it does not last long, so you need to hustle down.
I would appreciate it if it is clear enough that you bring your students down for 5 minutes. I know that it is an interruption to what you are doing in your class, but I think that it is a worthy one.
MS Dragon News:
As we head toward the end of the week, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone about our weekly MS Dragon News show. If you have any updates or news you would like to share with the Middle School; please email Daniel M. or Kevin B. by Thursday each week. This can be anything, from project updates, announcements, promotions, important dates, personal achievements, or recognition of a student’s hard work. We want to ensure everyone feels included and informed about what’s happening within our school, so please take a moment to contribute!
Thank you, and have a great day.
Best regards,
Mr. Mendes and Mr. Brodeur
