Weeks Ahead: April 24 – May 5

Last week brought us Talent Show Part 2, the last 2 days of CTP testing and the first 2 of this semester’s drama productions.  All of those things took a lot of teamwork and support.   (photo credits: Talent Show and G7 Drama, Tung Dang; G8 Drama, Patrick O’Brien)

FROM OFFICE OF TEACHING AND LEARNING:

Eric Brown, our interim EC-12 Learning Coordinator, wrestled the multiheaded-hydra of power standards and unit documentation and delivered SSIS to place of clarity and progress.  Further, the power standards and targeted standards are in the process of being uploaded and migrated into Chalk, our new curriculum documentation (and lesson planning if you choose) platform.  You can see the status of Power Standards uploading here and the list of Power Standards and Targeted Standards here.
Unit documentation is well underway too.  Eric reviews documents as indicated as “ready to review” by teachers.  Upon approval, they are sent to the Migration Specialist for migration.  The status of migration is below.
Eric will be with SSIS for two more weeks, April 28th being his last day on campus.  Eric has agreed to continue with unit documentation review through June 9, so this process will continue virtually. This also means that Chalk Migration will continue through June 9.  Good news!
On June 2, we have a full day PD.  Likely, this day will include an faculty introduction to Chalk and a walk through to register.  There will be time for exploring the platform and review current units that have been migrated.  There will be additional time for your own or team curriculum work, closing of the year, and preparation for next year.  More on June 2 next month.
