Week Ahead: May 22 – 26

MS MASTER SCHEDULE:

We are finally ready to have a formal review of the MS master schedule for 23-24.  Please review the linked document for your schedule as well as those that you teach the same class as.  We utilized the following priorities when creating the master schedule:

  • Meeting student preferences for electives
  • Supporting grade level teaming
    • G6 team prep is Block 5/E
    • G7 team prep is Block 3/C
    • G8 team prep is Block 8/H
  • Ensuring all teachers have a co-plan with those who teach the same course

We still have yet to select the blocks for co-taught courses.  We will be doing that this week.  In selecting those, another priority is to ensure co-teachers have a co-plan time.

As you review, please note the following – and review for the things listed below.  If you find an error, please let me (Molly) know right away.

  • Look for S1 and S2; just because a course is at the top of your row, it doesn’t mean it is S1 🙂 just a fun thing coming from the PS reports
  • In PowerScheduler, the blocks are listed as numbers (we convert them to letters when we put them in PowerSchool)
  • Classrooms are not correct – we haven’t gotten to that part yet.  As of right now, I anticipate that everyone will be in the same classrooms.
  • Look for your team prep, ensure you aren’t teaching 4 in a row on any given day, and check your co-planning situation

TECH UPDATE FROM DANIEL M:

There is an update for the Lockdown Browser.  If you plan to use Lockdown Browser for any assessments, please have students download the latest version to prevent screens from freezing.
Students are prompted on the Assessment to down the Lockdown Browser.  However, here is the link in case you need to share it with your students: https://download.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=678142356

FROM BUSINESS OFFICE:

We are 3 weeks away to the end of SY22-23 and a summer break ahead. The Finance office would like to inform the payment schedule for school year-end as following:

  • Last reimbursement to all faculty & staff for SY22-23 spending is on June 8th. The submission of all invoices/receipts for reimbursements therefore is on May 29th, 2023.
  • Last payment to vendors is on June 27th. The submission of all invoices/receipts for payment to vendors is on June 13th, 2023.

As the payment cycle after June 2023 is not planned yet, those payments received after June 13th will belong to the next school year budget.  Should you have any questions on payment/paper works, please come to C128 to see Ms. Binh Nguyen or email binhnguyen@ssis.edu.vn for the clarification.

Repeat – ART PARTY:

We are so excited to be hosting this incredible event again. The last time we held one was pre-Covid, 2019. Here is a video of the 2019 Art Party. This year promises to be even more exciting with the inclusion of the Idea Center, Music, and Drama performances.
There will be FREE art workshops run by the middle school art students (grades 6, 7, and 8) for all families and staff at SSIS. Everyone is welcome.
So that the students can prepare, change and set up their stations they will need to be released early from E block on the 25th of May at 2:40/2:45pm

Here are my class lists in case you want to see which students are involved. Thank you so much for understanding and supporting this event.
Are you a musician or dancer who would like to perform on our guest stage in the plaza? If you are, or know someone who would be interested please sign up on this SHEET. They are 15min slots, you can book multiple times.
Please note: The exhibition without the workshops will remain open until the 30th of May. We encourage you to bring your students during advisory, or class to view the stunning art.
