MAP UPDATE: The MAP testing schedule is the same as Fall. Though we will have an opportunity to check in on May 3rd at our divisional meeting, if you are a lead proctor, please check in on your testing sessions to make sure you are ready to go (link to testing accommodations and groups). Like with the WrAP, we will provide official testing lists to ensure that all are clear where students are going for their tests.
New Hire for Library Position: As Lara Keller takes on an even greater role at the HS and Extended Essay coordinator, we have been looking for a .5 librarian to cover MS and Gr 5 in ES. We are pleased to announce that we have hired Christopher Anderson. You may know Chris as he is currently serving as Erin Hawkin’s maternity leave replacement. Chris will likely be seen around the library between now and the end of the year as he learns the lay of the land. Please pass along congratulations and a welcome when you see him.
End of the Year – Closer than you Think: The end of the school year will be here in a blink of an eye. Be sure to be checking your calendars closely and frequently. I do my best to keep the information updated – and things do tend to change.
EARCOS Teacher Representative Position: Consider applying!
SSIS will appoint a new EARCOS teacher representative to serve for the next two school years. If interested, please read through the description of responsibilities. If you would like to apply to be the SSIS Teacher Representative to EARCOS, please fill in the application by Wednesday, April 26. If you have any questions about this role, please contact either Tina or Melissa.
East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) serves 142+ member schools with the intention of advancing professional growth for educators and enhancing communication among international schools. They sponsor Weekend Workshops at these member schools throughout each year.
EARCOS also organizes two large conferences each year, The Leadership Conference in October and the Teachers’ Conference in March. There is a lot of organization and work to be done at each school to ensure representation at the Teacher’s’ Conference, for both presenters and delegates. For the past year, Melissa Martin did a tremendous job serving in this capacity. We thank her stepping in to fill the previous teacher reps final year and for all her work.
