Week Ahead: Dec. 4-8

WWW was epic … and all thanks to the amazing middle school faculty!  It’s full on, 24/5 – and it’s not always easy.  But the experience you create for our students will be remembered for their entire lives.  Thank you so much for the dedication it takes to do what you do!

Just 2 more weeks and then S1 is complete and we are all off for a well deserved Winter Break.

Balancing Out S1 Assessments/Projects/Performances:  As we head into the last two weeks, each grade level team needs to ensure that assessments/projects/performances are balanced out without overloading the students on any one day.  This will help ensure they are able to perform at their best.

Grade and Comment Dates: This is a late add.  This information has been on the sidebar all of quarter 2, but I should have also added it to the main blog.  Here are the grading/comments dates for Q2/S1.  As you can see the deadlines are tight – we have pressed the official deadlines back as far as possible rather than set them arbitrarily early.  For this reason, there is no leeway.  All of this (except for the verification) can be done as early as you like.

Dec. 14: Comments completed and peer reviewed (in S1 bin) and grades completed by 3:00; verification reports will be printed at 3:00.
Dec. 15:  Verification reports reviewed, signed (can be digital), and returned to office by 12:15
Dec. 15: Reports emailed to parents at 3:00

S2 Schedules:  Huge thanks to Ha and Stacy for making all the schedule changes for S2.  This will be announced to students and parents this week.  We will consider student schedule change requests for a short period of time (but it is unlikely many will be possible).  There were a few issues with some S1 schedules being changed – we are working to fix those.  If you notice that a student isn’t in your S1 class, but should be, please notify me immediately.

S2 Day Rotation:  The HS has created a fix for their SL/HL IB hours issue.  This requires us to swap the rotation on Day 10 to FGHE.  This will start in S2.

Dec. 15 Winter Celebration: Just a heads up about the final day of the semester.  We will start with the annual Gingerbread contest.  That will be followed by a new activity being organized by Dawne Kaba.  This will be a Sports Day (and will take the place of the coding and gym activities of past Winter Celebrations).  More details about this will be coming very soon.
