Week Ahead: March 19-23

A great week!  So happy to get the wonderful news from Chris that a happy healthy Frederick Rodney was born.  We have a new Kindness Campaign happening … and, wait for it … a way for faculty to be involved!

It’s High Fives and Fist Bumps!  Praise is great … getting a note of praise is even better.  Let’s share some written high fives and fist bumps over the next 5 days.  Accept the challenge!  Check your box 🙂

(One thing that didn’t go so well this week was Blast ticket sales … with only 16 kids having purchased tickets, the PTA decided to postpone the event.)

SLC Reminders:  This week’s focus is practicing for the real deal!  Each student should go through their conference at least 2 times.  Here is a SLC Practice Checklist to assist students in their practice.  Think about your room – how will you set it up to create two areas for conferences?  What might you need to help prepare for student demos?

Papers you need for SLCs will be put in your box before Thursday.  You will be given student agendas and the compliments and a Goal sheets.  On Thursday, you will be given comment only reports for each of your advisees.  Remember that this report will be given to students/parents after the artifacts and demo.  After that, the compliments and a goal sheet is the very last thing.

We have ordered Thai food for Thursday (will be available starting at 3:00) and will have a sandwich bar running on Friday.  When you are done on Friday, you are free to depart for a great spring break.

Q3 Grade Report Deadlines:

  • Tuesday, March 20 – comments completed and peer reviewed (in Q3 bin) and grades completed by 3:00; verification reports printed at 3:00
  • Wednesday, March 21 – verification report reviewed, signed (can be digital) and returned to office by 12:15
  • Student Led Conferences March 22 and 23, 2018

Molly’s Survey: Please take time to complete my feedback survey.  This was emailed to you from Mark on Wednesday.  This is very valuable to me, and I appreciate your honest (and anonymous) feedback.  Here is Mark’s email again:

Each year we offer the entire faculty and staff the opportunity to give feedback to the senior administrators at SSIS in the form of a survey. We once again ask you to participate in this valuable project.

As we remind you each year:
1. The surveys are anonymous. They are administered by Ms. Ha Noi in HRD through Survey Monkey.
2. We ask that you be kind, but honest responses, even critical ones, help us grow.
3. The raw responses are shared with the individual’s direct supervisor (HOS with board chair, Principals with HoS, etc.). Nothing gets lost in translation.
4. We never release numbers or written responses, but each of us responds to our constituents with an evaluation of the survey results and our self-improvement plans for next year.
Thank you all, in advance, for the time you take to complete these. You are helping your school to grow and improve and we appreciate it immensely. The surveys will close early next week.
