Week Ahead: Oct. 1-5

Another very fine week in the middle school!  Once again as I participated in New Parent Check In meetings, I was struck by the amazing group of faculty members we have the pleasure of working with.  The insight about individual students, the care for their wellbeing, and the ability to communicate this all to parents making them feel a part of a greater team – truly inspiring!

Taking Attendance Every Block/Period, Every Day:  It is essential that attendance is taken each block within the first 10 minutes of class.  In looking at the daily attendance summary sent out each afternoon, that we can certainly improve in this.  This issue also came up during our final evacuation training (we couldn’t accurately complete the check in because attendance hadn’t been taken by all teachers).  Thank you for attending to this very important responsibility.

CTY Program Information Night:  Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth will be having an informational session for parents on Oct. 4 at 6pm.  Our role in this is to help nominate potential students (those that have tested in the top 5% on a nationally standardized test).  There are about 35 current MS students who meet that criteria.  CTY is a program that offers summer, online, and family programs for students who qualify through their testing program.  If you have qustions about this program, please check their website and/or you are all welcome to attend the information session.  They will also be meeting with me, Donna and Jacob Hendrickson about other aspects of their program.
