Week Ahead: Dec. 3-7

I continued to be inspired by the stories I’m hearing from WWW.  The hard work, the sore muscles, and the stress are all worth the experiences we create for our students – the growth we see in them, the funny things we learned about them that we never knew.  And it isn’t just the students.  Time and time again, people have mentioned how proud they are to be a part of their grade level teams.  How inspired they are by their colleagues and their ability to bring out the best in our students and in each other.  Congratulations to us all!

Overseas Orders:  Thank you for your work on the orders.  Please ensure that your order is in this Budget Ordering folder in our divisional materials.  I will be compiling them with Hang’s help on Monday.

Cocktails and Cookies Update: Some amazing HS students have planned a Holiday Bazaar and Tree Lighting event this Friday.  Not wanting to create a conflict between activities, Sunshine is shifting our event to be Cider, Coco and Cookies to be brought to you one morning next week.

Sports Day Sign Ups This Week:  On Thursday, December 13th the PE Department will be hosting Sports Day. We have been given more time this year and will be able to roll out the whole program which includes: Gym relays, Team Olympics (Soccer, basketball, volleyball) and Swim Relays.
I need your help this year to do the signups during DEAR on Wednesday, December 5th.
Here are the details:
  1. Sign ups will be done by GRADE and by HOUSE.
  2. Kids need to sign up for all events and every spot must be taken. For Team Olympics there will be some kids that don’t compete and we need them to sign up to be scorekeepers.
  3. You might have more than 4 kids wanting to do a particular relay so do some rock-paper-scissors to quickly determine who will get the relay. Kids should sign up for 1-2 relay events (depending on your house numbers).
  4. Kids will learn or be told about the relays descriptions in PE class so all you need to do is facilitate kids signing up for the events that they want to do.
  5. Please do the signup electronically if possible. I can also bring a paper copy if that is easier for you so please let me know.
On December 5th the sign ups will be done in the following locations and I would appreciate the teacher listed to be in charge of completing the document or handing in a paper copy:

Evacuation Drill Update:  All evacuation folders have been updated to include advisory rosters of the groups lining up on either side of each room.  If an advisor does not report as expected (or if a sub seems in need of assistance), you will have the roster in your folder.  When you hold up your green, it will indicate that your group and the one without an advisor is all present.  Thank you for continuing to attend to these important safety details.
