MS/HS Art Party: Come out and support your colleagues (Rebecca, Nomer, and Nathan) and our students with the MS/HS Arty party. There will also be student and faculty performances. It is an expectation for MS faculty to attend this event that starts at 3:15 in the HS Gym and Auditorium. It will be a great time. We look forward in seeing you there.
MS Orientation / Transition Program Committee: We need to review the 2.5 week orientation / transition program we implemented this year. If you would like to assist with that work, please email me. Thank you to Bonnie and Matthew for already signing up. I anticipate that we will have 1-2 meetings of about 1 hr each.
2019-20 Middle School Leadership Team: For the first time in 6 years, all members of the Leadership Team will be able to complete their terms of service. This means that there are no open positions for the 2019-20 school year. Looking way ahead, the Grade 6 and 7 Team Leader positions are up for election in April 2020 for service to begin the 2020-21 school year.
Climate Survey Open Until May 24 – From Catriona: Once a year, we open a community survey to students, parents, and teachers to gauge how well we are doing as a school, to celebrate our successes, and to elicit suggestions for improvement. We ask that all of you take a few minutes as a teacher to reflect on the whole school operations and to give us your professional feedback. The teacher survey can be found using this link Teacher survey. If you have a child enrolled here at SSIS, please fill out a parent survey as well and to have your voice heard both as a parent and a faculty member (this would have been emailed to you as a parent).
Appreciation Lunch for Staff: Our campus is always busy–and we are so lucky to have our dedicated maintenance staff, gardeners, cleaners, and security staff supporting our music and theater performances, art shows, athletic events, academic events, charity fundraisers, and community celebrations throughout the year! Last year Megan Vandeventer organized a fabulous luncheon to show our gratitude for the staff members who quietly make things run smoothly behind the scenes! The event helped support a culture of caring and respect for all and gave us all an opportunity to thank members of our SSIS community. This year the EC-12 Sunshine Committee will help support and organize event, which will be Saturday, June 1st.
There are many ways you can be involved in this expression of gratitude– you can bring a dish, serve and/ or cleanup. If you would like to help, please sign up here and let us know!
NGSS Training with Paul Anderson: Paul Anderson, maker of the Wonder of Science and NGSS super guru, is coming to SSIS this week. Gil, Ryan B. and Vaughan will be working with him off and on all week long. If you are curious, here is information about him – this is truly amazing to have him here for a full week with us.
