Week Ahead: May 27-31

So so much good stuff this past week.  Starting the week with an incredible music concert literally hit the right note.  Another favorite bright spot of mine is continuing to observe our students experience the joy of hard work in service of others.  Huge kudos to Brian Benck, Matthew Grove, and Natalie Beals for their work with the Anh Linh Love School drive, celebration and carnival.  Another? Following the sounds to find our grade 7 students sharing their Rube Goldberg machines with grade 3 and 4 students.  And finally, getting to see the Gadgets hit the stage at the Hard Rock surrounded by adoring fans.  So excellent!  Let’s see what this week brings!

Gift to Students:  Having fun during busy times is a great stress reliever.  Thanks for helping to make a quick skit for them to enjoy.  Here is the sign up sheet.  I added some suggestions … please add more (even if you don’t want to do it, someone else might).  Let’s try to have video taken this week so that we have time to edit over the weekend.

Final Weeks:  It’s important to keep track of what happens as we close out the year both for students and teachers.  This document is meant to assist with that.  As you review it, please note any questions, additions, or changes needed.

Returning Books: Trinh sent out an email with information about textbook and book return.  Please ask if you have any questions about this process.  Here is key information from her email:

DEAR books will need to be returned and will be re-checked out and delivered to your classrooms at the beginning of the next school year.

Please also drop me (Trinh) an email if you would like me to arrange for a book pick-up in your classroom.

  • By May 24: A textbook report will be emailed to each student for their reference on the book(s) they have checked out throughout this school year. Just like every year, some teachers (e.g. Language Arts, World Languages) may require their students to return the books to them before May 29.

  • May 28: An updated report will be sent out to students to make sure they are returning all the book(s) they owe on May 29.

  • May 29: I will be available in MS Campus (room A310) to support students with their textbook checking-in. Students will be notified with a detailed schedule for each grade level as following:

    • Grade 8: 8:00-9:25 (B block)
    • Grade 7: 9:40-11:05 (C block)
    • Grade 6: 11:10-12:35 (D block)

New Insurance for 19-20: The new insurance takes effect July 1 (see email from WaiMun).  You will receive your new insurance cards the last week of school.  Please make sure you remember to pick them up before you leave for summer.
