Week Ahead: May 25-29

It’s said that patience is a virtue. How do we develop patience? According to God as played by Morgan Freeman in the movie Evan Almighty, you develop patience when you have opportunities to be patient. Well … trying to get middle school students keep their masks on and to stay socially distant from each other certainly gives us lots of opportunities to practice our patience. I have been so impressed by the calm, patience you all have demonstrated in helping our students get better at these new rules. Your definitely a virtuous group of people!

Student Council Election:  StuCo Executive Council election will be held on Friday, May 29 during DEAR for Grade 6 and 7 students. Justine Mach will be sending out the link to the candidate slideshow and google form ballot. StuCo would like teachers to have students watch all videos as a whole class so that all candidates have an equal chance of being heard. Grade 5 students will be listening to speeches on Monday, June 1.

Middle School Leadership Team Results:  Congratulations to the newest MS Leadership Team members.  Ryan Butz will be serving as Grade 6 Team Lead.  Natalie Beals will continue to serve as the Grade 7 Team Lead.  We are very pleased about the leadership that these two will continue to bring to the division. With Ryan Butz’ move to the Grade 6 Team Lead, this opens the At-Large Representative. This position represents the voice of those not on a grade level team. As with the first election, all faculty members who are eligible to serve in this position will be added to the ballot. Please email me if you would like your name removed (even if you let me know you were not interested in serving as Grade Level Team Lead, you need to again ask for your name to be removed). Please do this by 3:30 on Monday. I will be sending the ballot out Tuesday morning.

Senior Walk Through: We are so excited that this wonderful tradition is allowed to continue. Please work with your classroom neighbors ahead of time to figure out the spacing so that we follow these regulations. It may be necessary for some groups to move down to the first floor or line the stairwells. We want to make sure we are ready and help this walk through run smoothly:

  • 1m apart on both sides of the hall
  • Masks on
  • No touching, high 5s, hugs

Quarter 4/Semester 2 Comments: Please feel free to use the comment bank again for Q4/S2 just like we did for Q3. You can refer to David Rynne’s email and also use the information posted to the SSIS Link. Please check the attached document for information regarding using the comment bank – and your course codes.

Textbook Returns: Please make sure that students have all textbooks ready to turn in following the schedule below. Trinh will be coming to these classes and collecting the books. So even if this ISN’T your class where the books are being picked up … you need to make sure your students have them at that time (ex. Modern World Language books, English Language Arts books) so that they can be checked in. Please note that here have a been a few slight changes to the schedule.
