Week Ahead: May 24-28
|Flexibility is the name of the game right now. Thank you all for your persistence and determination! I have truly appreciated the support I see you showing each other in many, many different ways. And of course, not to mention the support you are giving to our students. One of the ways that I personally have felt supported is by the questions, double checking, and consistent sharing of information that you do. Please keep this up! It is one way that we can ensure we are moving together, not letting things fall through the cracks, and hopefully having a bit of fun along the way.

Below are the updated Virtual School Progress Docs. Please take a look and unless told otherwise, check in with students in your advisory whose number of missing assignments are highlighted in yellow, pink or red. Check-in with such students can take place via Zoom before or after your regular advisory check-ins on MWF, Wed. afternoons, via email or via Gchat. From past experience, some caring check-ins and offers to support with time management or prioritization goes along way in motivating our dragons to catch up and keep up. Have questions? See Roxanne
Things we are working on: There are a lot of things still being figured out as we switch the end of the year activities to virtual plans. Here is a short overview and summary:
- G8 Promotion: working on a virtual asynchronous ceremony; will include interactive aspects and a celebration box delivered to all G8 students and families
- Yearbook distribution and leaving student conical hats: We are hoping for a bit of closure by having yearbook pick up and the signing of leaving student conical hats on June 9 in the afternoon. We are working on a format that would allow teachers to see their students one last time when they pick up yearbooks.
- Adjustments to end of year grades/comments being due: We will discuss this in Leadership Team to see if any adjustments are needed for this.
- Master schedule and classroom assignments for 21-22: I’m in the final stages of master schedule planning. This will then allow us to finalize classroom assignments for next year. My hope is that this could be done next week.
- Hiring: We still have 1 social studies position remaining to be filled. With other open positions in ES and HS, the hiring situation is still complex.
- Possible adjustments to MS bell schedule for 21-22: We are still exploring the possibility that we would have 1 lunch next year. If you have not yet filled out the faculty survey, please do so. Your feedback will be discussed at Tuesday’s Leadership Team meeting. Here is the survey link for those that haven’t had a chance to complete it: survey
Physical School Schedule v Virtual School Schedule: Big thanks to Tim Chute for ensuring that all conflicts between the physical HS schedule and the virtual MS schedule are identified and covered. We have also identified the conflicts that our 3 students who take HS math class will face. Thank you to Thao for getting that worked out. Thank you to our cross-divisional teachers who are making physical and virtual school work.
